What is Reiki?

It is a healing method discovered in Japan in 1922 by Mikao Usui, and can be described as a nonphysical healing energy guided by a Higher Intelligence.

The word Reiki is composed of 2 Japanese words, Rei and Ki, roughly translated as follows:

Rei - Higher Intelligence

Ki - the non physical energy that flows through and animates all living things

Ki flows through all our physical organs and tissues and is responsible for the state of our health, so if the flow is disrupted or blocked the result is some form of dis-ease.

Reiki safely and intelligently moves to where there are disruptions in the flow of Ki and healing is needed, using the practitioner simply as a channel and entry point so is in no way influenced by the mind or energy of the practitioner.

What Dis-eases respond well to Reiki

All emotional dis-ease, and physical dis-eases which are directly linked to stress and tension since these affect the body energetically.

On a physical level Reiki loosens and clears blocked energy, increases circulation and cleans out toxic waste, and for injuries can reduce pain and speed up healing by helping to regenerate organs and tissues.

On an emotional and spiritual level Reiki can re-establish mental well-being and expand our spiritual awareness to help us better understand our true purpose and evolutionary path.

Length and frequency of treatments

A treatment can last between 45-90 minutes, as required, and the energy will keep moving in the body for the next 24 hours as it continues its process of healing.

For this reason it is recommended to have 3 treatments on consecutive days so as to smooth over any strong reactions that may have been stimulated by the first treatment.
